The LJMU History Society is a student-led community for anyone with a love of history, regardless of what you study. No matter what your historical interest, you’ll find a welcoming space to share your passion.

We organise a wide variety of activities throughout the year — from historical themed events to chilled pub quizzes. We’re here to make history fun, interactive, and social. Whether you’re hoping to enrich your academic life or just want to geek out over your favourite historical period, this is the place to do it.

We meet regularly for both academic and social events and themed get-togethers. You don’t need to drink to take part — we have sober representatives, and all our events are designed to be inclusive, relaxed, and accessible. We also bring in guest lecturers and historians to share their insights and spark discussion.  Our goal is to create an engaging community with a focus around history and the love of the topic.

Because you don’t have to take history — or yourself — too seriously to enjoy this society. We’re all about building a welcoming, inclusive community where you can be curious, laugh, and make real connections. If you fancy meeting others who love talking about Tudor drama, Cold War politics or medieval myths, you’ll feel right at home here.

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
