The Girls and Gains Society is a supportive space dedicated entirely to women’s health,
fitness, and wellbeing. Our mission is to break down barriers, inspire confidence, and build a welcoming community where every girl—no matter your fitness level or experience—can thrive, connect, and enjoy an active lifestyle in a fun, inclusive environment.
We are an all-girls society passionate about promoting health and fitness in a way that feels accessible and encouraging to everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned gym enthusiast or completely new to fitness, Girls and Gains is here to support you. Our community focuses on fostering confidence, motivation, and balance—not just through physical activity but by nurturing a positive mindset and wellbeing culture. We believe fitness should be enjoyable and empowering, and we create a friendly atmosphere where you can meet like-minded girls, challenge yourself, and celebrate every achievement, big or small. Alongside workouts, we also promote holistic wellness with activities that support mental health and social connection, making sure you feel comfortable, supported, and valued at all times.
We offer regular fitness and wellness sessions designed to fit around your university schedule, including weekly fitness or yoga classes held in the SLB activity room. These sessions cover a range of styles such as LBT (legs, butt, tummy) workouts, HIIT, and yoga to suit different preferences and fitness levels. Additionally, we are excited to be launching a run club geared towards beginners and those who want a social, chatty jog to build stamina and enjoy fresh air. Beyond exercise, the society also organizes sober social events twice a month, including coffee meet-ups, cinema trips, group walks, and other activities where you can connect with others without the pressure of drinking. Membership is completely free, and all events are ticketed to manage group sizes comfortably. When special off-campus events occur, we’ll give you plenty of notice, and they’ll always be optional.

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
