The LJMU Art Society is a creative space for students from any background to explore art in all

its forms. Whether you're studying Fine Art or just like to sketch in your spare time, this society gives you the freedom to create, connect, and unwind with others who enjoy expressing themselves visually — no pressure, no expectations, just pure creativity.

About Us

The LJMU Art Society is a student-run collective where art lovers of all levels can come together to create, learn, and share. We’re open to everyone — from total beginners to seasoned artists — and our goal is to provide a chilled, welcoming environment where creative expression is encouraged without judgment or stress.

Each week, we meet to explore different mediums, techniques, and themes — from painting and sketching to collage, sculpture, and mixed media. You don’t need expensive supplies or formal training — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Alongside our weekly sessions, we organise visits to exhibitions, pub socials, life drawing evenings, collabs with other societies, and more to bring art out of the studio and into our lives.

At its heart, this society is about connection — with each other, with ideas, and with the joy of making something just for the sake of it.

Key Information

We host our weekly sessions every Monday at 6PM in the Student Life Building — perfect for relaxing after a busy day.

Whether you’re coming every week or just dropping in when you can, you’ll always be welcome.

Why Us?

In a world that often feels busy and overwhelming, making time for creativity is more important than ever. The Art Society offers you the space to switch off, recharge, and connect with people who share your love of expression and imagination.

Joining us is a great way to meet like-minded students, grow your artistic confidence, and even pick up new techniques and inspiration along the way. You don’t need to be the next Picasso — just someone who enjoys creating.

So bring your sketchbook (or borrow ours), come as you are, and let’s make some art together.

Committee

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
