Academic concerns

Dear students,

A lot of you have spoken up and raised your concerns on how the COVID19 crisis is affecting you academically.  Thank you, it makes our role as your Students’ Union so much more effective when we hear first hand about how this is affecting you. Whilst we have and will be continuing to raise your concerns in meetings with the university please take reassurance that we have witnessed first hand the commitment and effort being made by all staff to ensure no student is disadvantaged throughout this period.

On Tuesday, our VP Academic Quality met with the Vice Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer, Academic Registrar and Director of Communications to talk about the concerns you have raised so far. We have heard the university's position this morning and can assure you that they are working hard to put arrangements in place that will equitably support the breadth of diverse students from all levels and all disciplines across LJMU. Their priority and ours is to ensure that no student is unfairly disadvantaged because of the current crisis.  We understand that any uncertainty may lead to increased anxiety and we will, therefore, be meeting with the university’s leadership team, including Faculty PVCs tomorrow and getting a further update from Academic Registry on Friday. We will update you all with further details as soon as we are able to.

We also asked for further clarification about Graduation and you can now see answers to frequently asked questions.

We understand how difficult the current situation is for both students and staff, please be assured that the university fully understands this and are fully committed to ensuring that no student is disadvantaged.

Please remember you are not alone and you can get in touch with your Students’ Union through email, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and our new Facebook Group, JMSU Hangout.
