LJMU women’s basketball team won their last game of the semester against big rivals University of Liverpool, with the score finishing at an impressive 87-54. Playing on their home court at IM Marsh, JMU’s excellent teamwork and energy enabled them to score within seconds of the tip off.
During the second quarter the game started to intensify with both teams almost level pegging at 16-15. Supporters from both teams chanted from the side lines spurring their respective sides on.
The LJMU women’s team played with sheer determination; attacking, defending and communicating well throughout the game until they got the result they deserved. Player of the match was awarded to Ailish McLaughlin for her immense effort.
Team Captain, Sophie Hember said:
”We have been undefeated for the whole league so far and we wanted to end 2014 on a high. Uni of were a challenge for us but we came out winners. One of the reasons for this was our fitness, which has greatly improved due to our team structure, our improved training sessions and our new Coach, Pierre Boudin. The team has had a great term and are hoping to succeed again in 2015.”
