The lockdown lowdown: these are the rules you still have to follow

Monday 12-04-2021 - 10:00

Emily's lowdown on lockdown!

I'm here to highlight all of the things you can do as the Government’s COVID-19 restrictions loosen and society begins to slowly open up once more. Here is a breakdown of the government's roadmap to the re-opening of our favourite activities.

Monday, 29th March

Meet up with six people or two households are allowed to meet outdoors. You could head to Princes Park for a picnic, fling a frisbee or use jumpers for goalposts for a kick around.  Another place I look forward to going is heading up to Crosby beach and meet up with some friends on the sand if we get some more sun! (remember to keep up that social distancing and wear your masks where necessary).

Monday 12th April

Non-essential retail and personal care can reopen, Liverpool One will be opening up in the city centre along with all other non-essential retail, beauty venues & outdoor hospitality. Maybe treat yourself to some summer clothes (we all deserve a treat), but also hunt out those independent shops and support small businesses! Remember to take your mask and only go in your households or bubbles.

Another change following the Easter break is that indoor leisure will be allowed to open. This could be an opportunity to join the gym and get those endorphins working.

Hospitality venues can serve people outdoors from this date, meaning you can grab a drink of your choice in a beer garden or cute coffee shop – I’ll definitely be taking a jumper! Follow the rule of 6 or 2 households and remember to keep socially distancing and remember your facemask for that trip to the toilet.

Monday 17th May

Gatherings of up to thirty people will be permitted outdoors and a rule of 6 or 2 households indoors, making tag rugby with your mates at Sefton Park possible.

Indoor adult group sports and exercise classes will also reopen, there are lots of sports clubs in Liverpool which you could try out, I know I can’t wait to get back to trampolining!

People have really been missing the cinema, this is your chance to grab that popcorn! Which film do you want to see first in the cinema?

Monday 21st June

If all goes well then this is the date we are crossing our fingers for and “No legal limit on social contact”.

This brings the re-opening of nightclubs; will you be back at the first level Wednesday or in Baa Baa dancing the night away with your friends.

Rules to follow:

We’re all getting excited about restrictions slowly listing, but we’ve still got to play our part in keeping Covid case numbers down and keeping our community safe. Please follow the rules and be considerate to your neighbours:

  • Government restrictions on indoor gatherings, social distancing, mask-wearing and travel abroad remain the same.
  • Be considerate and make room for others when it's busy in outdoor public areas.
  • Help make our seafront and green spaces a rubbish free zone by following these simple rules:
  1. If there's a bin, use it.
  2. When a bin is full, take your rubbish home with you.
  3. Recycle what you can.
