LJMU students learned to cook healthy, wholesome food this week when professional chefs from Heathcotes visited one of the Halls of residence.
The cookery demonstration took place at Victoria Hall, where the students learned a range of techniques and recipes including Shepherds’ Pie and Chicken Tikka Masala. The demonstration was delivered in partnership by Liverpool Students’ Union and Heathcotes, an initiative to encourage students to eat good healthy meals whilst learning some new skills and having fun!
Following the success of the session we are hoping to hold more next term, hopefully within other Halls of Residence, to enable as many students as possible to benefit from the experience.
Louise Murphy, a student living at Victoria Hall, said: “I really enjoyed the cookery project today. The recipes we were shown were made simple and I definitely look forward to trying to cook them myself. The chefs were fun and enthusiastic and made the session fly over. I look forward to doing this again.”
