Students in support of water bottle initiative

The university is currently installing free water coolers across campus along with a university wide sustainability plan. This aim is to reduce carbon emissions such as those produced in the production and transportation of bottled water.

LiverpoolSU and the university catering outlets are considering not stocking bottled water in our shops. Instead we will provide re-usable water bottles.

In April 2013 we asked students if they agreed that the Union should stop selling bottled water in support of this initiative. The question was asked using a poll on the LiverpoolSU website home page in addition to a survey asking the same question which was sent to students who had previously agreed to take part in research. Here are the total results of this poll:

To support this initiative should the Union stop selling all bottled water?

In total, 153 students responded to the poll. The graph shows that a significant majority of these respondents agreed that the Union should stop selling all bottled water to support the initiative.
