It’s the start of exam and assignment season and we know how tough it can be to balance the demands of academic work, jobs, money and relationships, but you don’t have to go through it alone.
Your Vice President Community, Aisling Davis is leading the Mind Your Mate campaign which encourages you to look out for friends during this busy time.
Aisling explains: “Mind Your Mate is a week of activity aimed at providing students with the support and services they need to help a friend, who may be suffering from a mental illness. Quite often it can be difficult to start that conversation with a friend about their mental health, so this week aims to give students the information they need to make those first steps in helping their friend in need; raising awareness of the different types of mental illnesses students commonly face and the reasons for this; and signposting to support services within the university.”
From the 30th November look out for our student staff who will be giving out teabags, so you can take some qualitea time out and have a brew with your mates. And postcards will be given out to send your friends some words of encouragement, why not make someone’s day that little bit brighter?
We’re at Redmonds, Tithebarn Street and IM Marsh Liverpool Mini SU’s playing board games to give you and your mates a break from work. Be sure to come and visit us, giving yourself a rest is crucial in busy times! And if you’re lucky enough to study at Byrom Street campus, our new addition Byrom Bear will be there, he’s available for FREE hugs.
Show your support for all your mates and fellow students this week and take a photo in our giant heart frames at the Mini Liverpool SU’s, and if you tweet @MiniLiverpoolSU using the hashtag #MindYourMate you’ll be entered into our prize draw competition to win Byrom Bear!
