Hi,
As round two of Have Your Say is due to start this Monday we thought now would be as good a time as any to update you on what happened in round one. Back in November students at all campuses Had Their Say on both Food and Placements, article can be found here
Placements.
As a result of our work around placements and what students told us, we included a section in our Student Voice Reports, and made recommendations to the University about ways that they could improve the placement experience for students. These reports are currently being taken around various university committees, where we are lobbying for these recommendations to be implemented. Furthermore, based on what students told us, we will be carrying out targeted work this semester on the availability of information prior to placements.
The Placements section from our Faculty Student Voice Reports can be found here.
Food
In Semester 1 we spoke to you about Catering across LJMU campuses to find out what you think about the current offer, and what could be done to improve this.
Using your feedback, your Vice Presidents Dan Cole and Josh McDowell have met with the LJMU catering department on a number of occasions to discuss how this can be improved. In particular, we have spoken in detail about the new Byrom St phase 2 social zone, and what students would like to see in the new catering outlet. Following on from this, we will be holding a focus group at Byrom St for students to meet LJMU catering and see plans for the new social zone and samples of the types of food that can be offered.
The focus group will be held this Friday (13th) at Byrom St Starbucks social zone 10.30am-12, refreshments and samples will be on offer. Get in touch with Vice President Community Engagement, Dan Cole if you would like to be involved.
We have also been identifying how to make improvements across campus, including the possibility of hot water and microwaves being available to students. We welcome any feedback on the catering facilities across campus, and you can contact your sabbatical officer team with any feedback you have.
