Freshers' Fair FAQS
Freshers' Fair is the biggest & best student event of the year where we welcome thousands of you for a day of meeting our amazing student groups, getting to know local Liverpool businesses and national brands, and grabbing loads of freebies of course! Here is some key info about the event:
Where is it?
You'll find us at the Echo Arena down by the Albert Dock - the address is Kings Dock St, Liverpool L3 4FP.
When it is on?
The Fair is open from 10am-5pm. For last visitors we would suggest aiming to arrive at 4:30pm to give you enough time to get around the whole thing.
How do I get there?
The Echo Arena is right next to the Albert Dock, which is a 10 minute walk from the centre of town if you fancy a stroll.
We will also be putting on buses from all campus locations straight to the fair and back.
Buses will leave from all campus locations regularly - below is a list of where the bus stops are relating to which campus/building you are located in. You will see one of our student staff in a blue hoody at these bus stops throughout the day.
Bus stops:
John Foster & Redmonds Building - The bus will leave from the bus stop on Mount Pleasant near the end of the John Foster Building, opposite Cuthberts Bakehouse
John Lennon Art & Design Building - The bus will leave from the bus stop on Hope Street (opposite the Everyman Theatre)
Byrom Street - The bus will leave from the bus stop opposite Byrom Street
Tithebarn Street - The bus will leave from the bus stop opposite the Tesco
IM Marsh - The bus will leave from Aigburth Road bus stop (Walk to Aigburth Road from Barkhill Road, turn left, walk 2 mins)
What should I expect?
Freshers' Fair is a large scale event in a big venue, so expect to be around a lot of people! There is an amazing atmosphere and energy at this event, with all of our student groups keen to meet new students and recruit members, big businesses showcasing their brand and giving out freebies/doing competitions and activities, plus music, games, prizes and more. You will come away with lots of bags of freebies, loads of info about the city and student life and a free slice of Domino's pizza (or 2!)
Do I need to buy a ticket/pay? Will I need my student ID?
No, no and no! The Fair is free, not ticketed and we will not be checking student cards, which means you bring along a non LJMU student friend or family member if you like.
Is it child friendly?
Absolutely! We love welcoming students' children to this event - just bear in mind that it can get quite crowded.
