Freshers 2020 - Update

Tuesday 18-08-2020 - 21:10

You’ve received your results and you’re now planning for your new life at LJMU (and possibly Liverpool itself), and you’re now thinking what will Freshers 2020 look like in this new world? You may be a returning student to LJMU and you’re wondering how you can get involved in your Students’ Union this year.

Don’t worry, we are here to make sure you have the best start (or return) to LJMU and the amazing city of Liverpool.

We are JMSU and we can't wait to meet you.

We're a student-led, charitable organisation here to focus completely on LJMU students and your experience. We offer a wide range of activities, services and support to help you get the most out of your time at university.

This covers everything from the social side, to making sure everything's going right on your course, to the 100+ student groups we have on offer, giving you the opportunity to make change and so much more.

Led by our four Student Officers, we’re on hand to give you the best introduction to university life, right through to graduation.

Freshers' Fair

With the challenges that we have all been presented with this year, Freshers is going to look a little bit different, and for the first time EVER, our Freshers’ Fair is going virtual!

Running over three weeks, from Monday 21st September, right through to Friday 9th October. There’ll be all the usual freebies, offers and discounts for you to get hold of, all from the comfort of your student accommodation or home!

Don’t worry, we are still working hard to try and bring you our usual physical Freshers’ Fair. This may not take place in term one, but as soon as we know more information, this will be shared with all students.

TOTUM

Make sure you download TOTUM, your passport to student life. It’s the UK’s number one FREE student discount platform, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. There’s 100s of local and national discounts for you to take advantage of as a student at LJMU, and you can also join our student groups and sign up for our Freshers events.

You can also upgrade and take advantage of further discounts and PASS accredited student ID, meaning you don’t have to take your passport or driving licence out with you!

Events

Staying safe is our number one priority but wherever we can we will deliver, support and offer access to the normal range of activity.

We’ve got loads of boss events for you to sign up to; including cook-alongs, quizzes and city tours, making sure you get the best start to the new academic year. These will be online on Friday 28th August.

You can also find out more throughout Freshers about how you can get involved at JMSU, working as part of our student staff team, gain skills and experience through our volunteering opportunities and represent your classmates as a Course Rep, and so much more!

For more information on Freshers, and how to get involved, check out the Events section of our website or get in touch with us at studentsunion@ljmu.ac.uk.

The crucial thing to remember is that you’re never on your own; sign up and stay in touch and ask us anything at any time.
