After 1,187 nominations, over 700 nominees and one long day of short listing the seventh annual Amazing Teaching Awards night 2016 has finally arrived!
This year marks the 7th annual LiverpoolSU Amazing Teaching Awards, it was the biggest and most successful awards to date with over 120 attendees. The awards are a night all about celebrating the amazing teaching talent at LJMU and encourage a high standard of academic quality. There are seven different nomination categories including Amazing Teacher, Amazing Personal Teacher, Amazing Academic Tutor, Amazing Academic Supervisor, Amazing Course Team, Amazing Feedback, Amazing Teaching for Employability and one category for leading students - Amazing Course Rep. All nominations are submitted by LJMU students, which are then taken to a panel made up of students, LiverpoolSU officers and LJMU staff who judge the quality not the quantity of nominations.
On Thursday 26th May, lecturers, Course Representatives, SU staff and LJMU staff gathered at the Marriot Hotel Liverpool to celebrate the talented staff at LJMU. Proud speeches from us at the SU and LJMU we’re made regarding the high standards of teaching at our university – it was truly amazing to celebrate the dedicated and passionate work conducted this year by LJMU teachers!
Your Vice President Academic Quality, Jamie Bennett, spoke passionately about teaching at LJMU, he said...
“Good teaching is everything. Regardless of all the Higher Education experience metrics in the world it all boils down to a student with the desire to learn and a teacher with the passion to teach them. These experiences will help transform our student’s lives and make their dreams come true.”
We want to say a huge congratulations to all of those shortlisted (all of which can be found here), who have shown an outstanding level of teaching and made a positive impact on students’ lives.
