The last two years have been a rollercoaster for students across the globe. You have taken your studies in your stride; after all, you have experienced university very differently to any other.
Despite drastic changes to teaching and learning, the uncertainty of the pandemic, not to mention endless hours of Zoom meetings, lectures and seminars, our three cohorts finally put on their cap and gowns and graduated at one of Liverpool's most famous buildings, the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. And what an event it was.
Overall, we saw 52 ceremonies take place over three months, consisting of a staggering 14,000 students. We saw students reunited with lecturers and coursemates, families and friends supporting them, and the university and JMSU cheered for them, congratulating them for their successes.
Our officers, who started their term just recently, jumped into the deep end and led the processions at the graduation. Our recently elected President of JMSU, Marie, shared with us: 'I had the honour to represent the students during the graduation ceremonies this week and on Wednesday I got the chance to be and celebrate with my friends/classmates, even though I was on the other side of the graduands' seats. I'm looking forward to having my official award and ceremony next year but also glad to have completed my degree despite everything. Now..onto my experience working alongside 3 amazing and inspiring women this year. I'm excited and I'm so so proud of us and everyone that graduated. Class of 2022 ✌🏿😎'
Gaby, our VP Community and Wellbeing also shared: 'It is great honour for me to be on behalf of the student’s union Liverpool John Moores University Students' Union to give the last formal speech at graduation ceremonies of the class of 2022 at Liverpool John Moores University this week! I am certainly proud of being a part of the procession where I had chance to light the candles representing the foundation of LJMU in 1823 and witnessing the achievement of the graduands. I am really excited to celebrate my graduation ceremony later this year and it would be phenomenal moment of my life!'
Now that the graduation ceremonies are over, we want to remind you that this isn't the end. As an LJMU graduate, you are part of the LJMU and JMSU community for life.
