Our Student Communities provide a platform for you to find other likeminded people at LJMU. They are student-led groups that aim to empower others, help JMSU improve student experience, build a sense of belonging at university and to improve liberation, equality and inclusion. Each community group hosts events, makes positive change, and most of all provides the opportunity for students to have fun at university!
If you identify as Disabled or Neurodiverse, Ethnically Diverse, International, Mature and Postgraduate, check out our community groups below for more info.
We recognise that some of these groups of students are marginalised by mainstream society. Liberation is important to us because your identities affect your participation, achievement, and progression in education. Others have been identified as groups that feel isolated from the wider student body and so we have created an online space filled with resources and opportunities for these students to connect and get involved.
Hi Iโm Theo, community leader for Disabled and Neurodiverse community. I became a community leader because itโs a fantastic chance to make a positive impact at John Moores, all while pushing myself to be better and learn more about myself and community.
Iโm really looking forward to being able to promote a positive and safe space for students like me and getting to know and socialise with more people whilst doing so.

Hey I am Alex! the international students community leader. I decided to take the role at JMSU to bring people together and to encourage all the international students to have the best experiences possible here at LJMU.
Iโm really looking forward to meeting you all โ as well as shared socials with other communities, organising events together and help you during your time here!
Hi Iโm Marie the Community leader for ethnically diverse students for JMSU. I really enjoyed being a Part Time Officer and then subsequently Full Time Officer in previous year, I was able to connect to so many different students from and outside my community.
I understand how daunting it can be to feel alone or shy to approach people, so my aim is to bring everyone together and have a fun time at university and find a support system with likeminded people.
I'm looking forward to building those connections and collab with the other communities to bring students together.

Hi Iโm Catalina your student community leader for mature and postgrad!
I became a community leader because I want to contribute to the enhancement of both my own and other students' educational experiences, advocating on their behalf and foster a feeling of community. I am most looking forward to connecting with other postgraduate and mature students like me!
