Sports Nominations 2022

We're excited to celebrate sporting success across eleven awards.

The following awards below are open to nominations by the sports club committee:-

Members Choice Award 

Awarded to a sport or team that has been nominated by other sports clubs who have made a real difference to their Team LJMU experience. 

Sport Member of the Year 

Awarded to the person who has shown the most commitment and enthusiasm to their club for Team LJMU this year, making an outstanding contribution to Sports. 

Nominate A Sport/Team

The panel will decide on the following award winners based on the criteria:-

JMSU Sports Club of the Year 

Awarded to the club that has gone above and beyond this year and excelled across the Sports of the Year criteria.

JMSU Non-BUCS Team of the Year 

Awarded to the Non-BUCS Team who has competed exceptionally in their competition and represented the University to a high standard.

JMSU BUCS Team of the Year 

Awarded to the BUCS Team who has competed exceptionally in their competition and represented the University to a high standard.

JMSU Special Recognition 

Awarded to a member/sport that has gone the extra mile to make an impact whether through an increase in participation, sporting performance, charity work or community engagement.

JMSU Volunteer/Coach of the Year

Awarded to a coach/volunteer who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the team. 

Most Improved/Developed Club of the Year

Awarded to a sports club that has made significant progress in the last academic year.

Varsity Team of the Year

Awarded to a Varsity team who delivered a strong performance and captured the spirit of the games.

Best New Sports Club

This award will go to a sport affiliated in the last 12 months who have made a great start to their first year as a group! This could mean a great increase in membership, success in competitions, and going the extra mile to promote and grow the sport.  

Inclusion Award Sponsored by Unite Students

Awarded to the sports club who have made the most effort to remove barriers to inclusion and engage with the full diversity of the student body.

Sports Colours

What are the colours? 

  • Recognition of your service to SU and LJMU Sport. 

Full Colours are given to: 

  • A student graduating this academic year. 

  • A student who has been part of their sports team for the full 3 years of University OR If the Student has been part of a committee/coached at any point. 

Half Colours are given to: 

  • A student graduating this academic year. 

  • A student who has been part of the team for two years 

It's the responsibility of the club committee for submitting final year students for the colours. Colours will only be given out on the Awards Evening to the members of the sports.  

Submit a Colours Nomination

All nominations for colours and awards must be submitted to jmsusport@ljmu.ac.uk by 12 noon on Thursday 9th March 2023.
