There are ten awards up for grabs this year, which cover everything from the past year, from student groups continuing to support their members to raising money for charity and engaging in the JMSU and LJMU community. These awards are your chance to get your society and its members recognised for the amazing things societies have achieved this year.
The following awards are open for nominations:-
Members Choice Award
Awarded to a society that has been nominated by other societies who have made a real difference to their society's experience. A society that has given guidance, inspiration, or collaboration! The shortlisted societies will go out to a member vote. Once they have been shortlisted, the winners will be decided by members of JMSU student groups!
Society Member of the Year
Awarded to the person who has consistently engaged with students and JMSU throughout the year. A person who has been proactive in providing opportunities for society members to connect and make a difference.
The following awards will be selected by your JMSU Activities Team and Sports Vice-Chair:-
Society of the Year Sponsored by Unite Students
Awarded to the society that has gone above and beyond this year! This could be a society that has increased membership, hosted frequent opportunities, and worked hard to be there for its members.
JMSU Best New Society
This award will go to a society affiliated in the last 12 months who have made a great start to their first year as a group! This could mean a great increase in membership, successfully hosting events, and going the extra mile to promote and grow the society.
JMSU Society Special Recognition
Awarded to a member/society that has gone the extra mile to make an impact in the JMSU/LJMU community.
JMSU Society Event of the Year
Awarded to the society that has put on an event that has made a difference to members.
Best Academic Society
Awarded to the best academic society that has increased membership, hosted frequent opportunities, and worked hard to be there for its members.
Best Culture & Faith Society
Awarded to the best culture/faith society that has increased membership, hosted frequent opportunities, and worked hard to be there for its members.
Best Creative & Performance Society
Awarded to the best creative & performance society that has increased membership, hosted frequent opportunities, and worked hard to be there for its members.
Best Community & Interests Society
Awarded to the best community and interest society that has increased membership, hosted frequent opportunities, and worked hard to be there for its members.
Society Commitment Awards
What are commitment awards?

Commitment Awards are a recognition of your service to JMSU and LJMU as a society.
Society Commitment Awards are given to:
-
A student graduating this academic year who will be moving on from the society
-
A student who has been part of their society for the full 2 years of University OR If a Student has been part of a committee at any point.
Committee members are responsible for submitting nominations for commitment awards which will be announced at the awards evening!
All nominations for commitment awards must be submitted to jmsusocieties@ljmu.ac.uk by 12 noon on Thursday 9th March 2023.
