The Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team at LJMU are working on a number of workstreams, including carbon and energy, biodiversity, waste, and travel, among others. Volunteering with the team not only supports LJMU to reach its objectives for environmental sustainability, but will provide learning experiences and opportunities to make a positive impact on campus and in the local community.
The Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team have received 420 tree saplings from the Woodland Trust and we'd love for you to help us plant them! We'll be using them to create some hedgerows at the back of Byrom Street to further enhance the biodiversity of our estate. Our contractors will talk you through why we need to plant more and how to do it, then we'll get planting!
Time and Date: We'll be holding two sessions on Tuesday 18th November, the first from 11.30am to 12.30pm, and the second from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. If you want to stay for the full two hours you're welcome to, but if you can only make one session that's also fine!
Clothing: Please wear comfy clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Gloves will be provided.
Weather: The event will proceed unless there is extreme weather so please dress appropriately.
Meeting Point: Please meet outside the Max Perutz Building, please email sustainability@ljmu.ac.uk if you're not sure where this is.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at sustainability@ljmu.ac.uk
