What We Do

Here at JMSU, the wellbeing of all LJMU students is so important to us. That's why we work with stakeholders across the city and within the LJMU community to ensure you are safe, happy and healthy throughout university.

These are some of the things we do...

Wellbeing Action Plan

We have put together a 'smart' Wellbeing Action Plan, so you can see what we are doing to keep wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do.

Work with Student Advice and Wellbeing

At LJMU we have a dedicated department specialising in advice and wellbeing, who we work closely with on everything from Wellbeing Week, to safety policies, and everything in between. Find out more about what they do here.

Student Minds SU Support Project

We are also working very closely with the national ‘Student Minds’ charity, which empowers students and members of the university community to look after their own mental health, support others, and create change.

They are running a support project for students’ unions and we are one of the 11 SUs taking part. This will enable us to access training sessions for staff, student groups, and volunteers, as well as the ability to develop all our work around mental health. You can find out more about the project here. https://www.studentminds.org.uk/studentsunions.html

Don’t forget we also have an incredible LJMU student minds society, which you can join here. https://www.jmsu.co.uk/groups/student-minds

Buddy Scheme

Being at university can be such a daunting and overwhelming experience, especially during a pandemic! That's why we have the JMSU Buddy Scheme - a team of trained student volunteers who we match you with based on your preferences.

For more information on how to sign up to the scheme, click here.

We want to make sure we are working to improve the experience of LJMU students at every opportunity. Megan, our Vice President Community, has mental health and wellbeing at the forefront of all her objectives for this year, so if there is anything you’d like to see her working on, you can email her at lsuvpc@ljmu.ac.uk.
