We want to make sure we are working to improve the experience of LJMU students at every opportunity. Megan, our Vice President Community, has mental health and wellbeing at the forefront of all her objectives for this year, so if there is anything you’d like to see her working on, you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We want to hear from you!
We are looking for your opinion on wellbeing provisions at LJMU, so to give us your feedback and be entered into our draw to win £100, fill in our short survey here.
Self-Help Book Club
This year we are working with the counselling team and LJMU libraries to set up a book group designed to provide peer-to-peer and self-help for mental health.
We will be holding small scale events to discuss the topics of the self-help books and provide a safe space to share experiences and thoughts on the matter. We are also hoping to invite special guest speakers to the events to share their journeys.
Keep your eye on our events page for more information.
Wellbeing Action Plan
We have put together a dedicated Wellbeing Action Plan, so you can see what we are doing to keep wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do.

Student Minds SU Support Project
We are working very closely with the national ‘Student Minds’ charity, which empowers students and members of the university community to look after their own mental health, support others, and create change.
They are running a support project for students’ unions and we are one of the 11 SUs taking part. This will enable us to access training sessions for staff, student groups, and volunteers, as well as the ability to develop all our work around mental health. You can find out more about the project here. https://www.studentminds.org.uk/studentsunions.html
Don’t forget we also have an incredible LJMU student minds society, which you can join here. https://www.jmsu.co.uk/groups/student-minds
Coming to university can be such a daunting and overwhelming experience, especially during a pandemic! That's why we have the JMSU Buddy Scheme - a team of trained student volunteers who we match you with based on your preferences.
