Role Description - NUS Delegate

What Does the Role Involve?

As a JMSU delegate at NUS UK Conference, you’ll be responsible for representing the views of LJMU students to the wider student movement and the leadership of the National Union of Students. You’ll need to work with our other delegates to gather feedback from students across the University and identify potential conference motions. Once the conference agendas have been published, you’ll need to conduct research into student opinion and existing JMSU policy, to inform how you vote at the conference.

General Responsibilities

  • Be an active part of the JMSU community.
  • Be a change-maker at JMSU working with Student Voice and Campaigns.
  • Spend time talking to students, finding out what their issues are at LJMU, how the things that are important to them could be discussed nationally.
  • Follow the work of NUS and what issues are impacting students nationally.
  • Work and support the Officer team at JMSU, developing and improving the student experience at JMSU.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Attend as a NUS Delegate representing all LJMU students at the National Union of Students Annual Conference.
  • Attend and contribute at JMSU’s Focus Groups, Student Engagement Panel and Student Council throughout the academic year.
  • Attend JMSU’s AGM.
  • Work with the Student Voice and Campaigns team, having monthly catch-ups with a staff member throughout your term.
