The Award Categories for 2018 are:

Officer Awards

Each year our four Student Officers are elected and mandated by the student body to deliver on their manifesto promises. It is therefore important to recognise those staff who are already making their own contribution to these areas.  Nominations for these categories will be taken from officers and union staff.

President’s Award

The attainment gap in performance for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) students is under the spotlight and is an increasing cause for concern in the higher education sector. This award recognises the member of staff or team who has consistently taken an active role in tackling the BME attainment gap and have gone above and beyond to make BME students’ experiences worthwhile and inspiring.

VP Academic Quality Award

Course Rep systems embody the belief that students should be active partners in their learning and overall student experience. This award recognises the member of staff or team who has consistently championed and supported the Course Rep System, and has gone above and beyond to engage and listen to students.

VP Community Engagement Award

Staff who are sensitive to and take into account each students mental health are one of the most valued assets in the student support system provided by LJMU. This award recognises the member of staff or team who has consistently championed positive mental health amongst their students and has gone above and beyond to support students in need.

VP Activities Award

Our clubs and societies play a huge role in helping to make students feel proud to be part of the LJMU community. This award recognises the member of staff or team who has consistently championed student groups, and has gone above and beyond to support and develop clubs and societies.

Teaching & Support Awards

Students shaped the values of their Students’ Union and if we are to recognise the contribution that staff make to the student experience at LJMU then it is only right that we award those staff that embrace those values.

Academic Rep of the Year– One Award per Faculty

Nominations for this category will be taken from the VP Academic Quality and Course Rep Coordinator

This award is significant in that it is different to all the others. It recognises students who have volunteered their time to improve their fellow students’ experience at LJMU. The Academic Rep of the year award acknowledges those Course Reps who actively gather student feedback, input to relevant meetings and enable their course team and LiverpoolSU to understand the student experience and therefore improve it.

Partners in Learning Team Award

The shortlist for this category will be taken from previous nominations from the Amazing Course Team Awards.

This award recognises the effort of staff teams that consistently work to create a rounded overall experience, which results in students feeling welcomed, valued and part of the course/Faculty/wider LJMU community.

Partners in Learning Individual Award

The shortlist for this category will be taken from previous nominations from the Amazing Teacher, Amazing Personal Tutor, Amazing Feedback and Amazing Academic Supervisor Awards.

This award recognises an individual who continually inspires and motivate students offering excellent guidance and support whilst consistently challenging students to be the best that they can be; making them truly feel like a valuable member of the learning community

The Unsung Hero Award

The shortlist for this category will be taken from previous nominations from the Amazing Support Staff/Team Award

What would we do without our administrators, librarians, counter staffs, technicians, or and all of our other amazing non-academic staff? This award recognises the member/team of support staff who go above and beyond to make students’ experiences at LJMU the best they can be; instilling a sense of pride to be a member of the LJMU community.

Pride of LJMU Award

The winner of this category will be the staff member who has received the most nominations over the past 3 years. This staff member will have consistently demonstrated the behaviours and values that matter the most to students.
