Forensic Psychology & Criminal Justice

  • Fpcj

Description

About Our Group

Welcome to the Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice Society! The society will be based on various subjects that you will encounter on your degree in FPCJ. Topics such as how to become a forensic psychologist, why I need to study statistics on my course, linking the forensic aspect to the criminal justice system, exploring and debating theories or new rehabilitation programs in probation services etc.

It is a student-led society with the support of the department, however, it is now only for FPCJ students or students who study similar degrees, but to anyone else interested in this subject area.

We will be setting up several events across the year, which will include quiz nights, social events, movie nights, academic debates, field trips, extra-curricular student support, and career talks.

The FPCJ Society is a warm and welcoming student-led society that aims to join the two disciplines of psychology and criminal justice; not only for the course material but also as a form of prospective future professional opportunities. It intends to do so by making sense of the link between the two disciplines and by making the members feel a sense of belonging in such a broad subject course.

The society is an academic and fun way of providing you the opportunity to interact with other students who are studying different modules in all the course levels; these may have similar career interests and could provide an insight into different pathways.

Also, the society works closely with the module and program leaders of the course so it can liaise between the two and offer a broader perspective of study support. It is open to suggestions and aims to come up with different events that will further the students’ ideas and knowledge on subject topics discussed in the lectures and in the developing accredited websites of interest in the matter. These will be done in events such as academic debates, field trips, guest speakers, work experience information, career talks, study support, and movie and quiz nights.

Overall, we are a group of students that want to share similar interests and ideas and further out knowledge in the subjects to be able to explore other pathways between ourselves, and still have a laugh whilst doing this.
