Hi, I’m Liam, the Advice and Policy Manager here at JMSU.
I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2014 with a Youth and Community Work degree. My main area of focus during the course was the empowerment of young people from diverse minority backgrounds.
Since graduating, I have worked in a mental health charity, working with LGBT+ people. This work involved providing advice and guidance in a range of areas: from exploring identity through to challenging and supporting the change in school policies and improving their school experience.
Working for JMSU and providing advice to students is a passion and privilege. I have experience attending investigating meetings for fitness to practice, advising though the disciplinary procedure and attending hearings. I have knowledge in the student’s criminal convictions procedure and giving advice on extenuating circumstances, complaints and appeals. I have also advised students on their written statements for various university panels.
